Habit Garden

The problem

Most habit apps punish you with a broken streak counter. I wanted one that rewarded showing up, and I wanted an excuse to learn Flutter’s animation system beyond the tutorials.

What I built

A small offline app where each habit is a plant. Checking in waters it; missing a day only slows growth instead of resetting it. The garden becomes a visual record of the past month.

How

Hive stores everything on the device, so the app works on a plane and never asks for an account. Plant growth is a Rive state machine driven by the streak data, and custom implicit animations handle the rest of the interface.

Result

About two hundred people use it through a public test build. It taught me more about frame budgets and animation curves than any course, and those lessons went straight into client work.
